Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology in Switzerland

Switzerland gains its global reputation among tech companies as a location for research and development in the area of artificial intelligence. Giant tech such as Google, Microsoft and Facebook base some of their overseas research operations in Zürich, working alongside ETH University, whose IT department is ranked second-best in the world,  by Times Higher Education 2019.

Tech companies based in Switzerland benefit considerably from a research friendly environment, access to AI institutes, support software systems, skilled manpower from around the world, and low taxation. In addition to Zürich, the Canton of Zug, is also a favoured location for tech companies. Called this “Swiss silicon valley”, Zug offers a very low corporate tax of 11.91% and the canton is only 20 minutes by train from Zurich !
